Majority of the farmers in Pakistan are smallholder farmers, usually having 25 acres or less. In most commercial crops, the biggest problem is storage of those crops. To solve this challenge we launched Kisaan Gudam where farmers can bring in their produce to be stored using hermetic cocoons.Through retention of carbon dioxide and moisture levels, insect infestation and mold accumulation are taken care of. This reduces storage losses that are not only faced by farmers but also the government. The farmers who store their produce with us are also given access to 70% of the cost of the commodity. This process allowed farmers to access cash at harvest times without having to sell their produce in a rush.

The purpose of this initiative is to provide commodity-based financing, promote smallholder farmers’ entrepreneurship, address long-term nutritional needs, and promote market linkages to the farmers
Kissan Gudam is in partnership with GrainPro, led by a former WFP director Jordan Dey, to bring Hermetic technology to Pakistan.
